Today, Mrs.King gave the class a "lesson" on interviews for our graduation projects. It was a short day becasue we had advisary, but I worked a bit on my collage and note-taking.

Graduation Project Proposal

What will your project be?
- I am the student curator for the City High Art Show. I help out with everything involved with the show. I approve poems, look at art, decide on appetizers, recruit people who want to help, get people to be a part of the show, help set up, help people practice and things of that sort. So, I’m student curator this year, but next year I would like to have my own “Poetry Slam” where local artists/kids all come together and share their poems/lyrics.
Why are you doing this project? /What do you hope to accomplish? /Who will benefit from your project?
- I chose to take the position as student curator, because I love being involved in the arts. I always want to go to art shows and poetry sessions, but as student curator I get to contribute and to the arts. In 2006, I was chosen to go to Las Vegas to compete in the Society of Poets annual competion. It was such a wonderful experience. There were at least 5 thousand poets there from all around the world, not including their families and friends. It was a challenging competition, and I ended up winning the young poets scholarship and a few other things. It made me feel good that out of thousands of people, I stood out. I didn’t realize how talented I was when it came to poetry then, and I’m sure that if I have a small poetry slam I’ll help young aspiring artist see that in themselves as well. It will inspire them to write more and try to do more things with their work. Young poets and lovers of poetry will be brought together in a peaceful & creative manner. I also want everyone to understand that we all have talent and you can do beautiful things with it when you use it.
- I was also thinking about having the guests pay only $1 to get into the show. The money will go towards an excellent cause, probably something for City High. I think $1 really good because it’s a little bit of money and plus refreshments will be there along with a great show.
What will your grad project look like in the end/what will you show the panel?
- I’m going to explain what inspired me to be student curator at the City High Art Show and what inspired me to have my poetry slam. There will be pictures of me as student curator, and pictures & videos of my poetry slam and maybe snippets of performers at my show.
